NOSA Cerevia

NOSA Cerevia is being developed as a platform for controlled intranasal drug delivery, with particular focus on therapies targeting the central nervous system (CNS). The platform is designed to explore the potential of the nasal cavity as an alternative route for delivering active pharmaceutical ingredients in a controlled and user-friendly manner.

By combining NOSA’s proprietary intranasal plug technology with controlled drug release, NOSA Cerevia creates new opportunities for CNS treatments where conventional routes of administration may be limited by biological barriers, systemic exposure or the need for frequent dosing.

The long-term vision is to establish a versatile drug-delivery platform that can be adapted to different active pharmaceutical ingredients and CNS indications.

Drug delivery platform

Benefits

NOSA Cerevia enables effective drug delivery:

  • Slow release
  • Increased efficacy
  • Less side effects
  • Patient friendly
  • Cost savings
  • Non invasive

Proof-of-Concept

Preclinical in vitro studies have provided initial proof-of-concept for the NOSA Cerevia platform.

The studies have demonstrated a sustained release profile, supporting the platform’s ability to release an incorporated substance over an extended period of time. This represents an important distinction from conventional nasal sprays, where the majority of the formulation is typically delivered immediately after administration.

Studies have also indicated broad distribution within the nasal cavity, potentially increasing the surface area of the nasal mucosa exposed to the formulation.

Together, these findings provide early support for the underlying concept of combining controlled release with prolonged intranasal exposure.

How it works

NOSA Cerevia is a medical device that is infused with drugs as an integral part of the device. This enables the drug to be emitted in a controlled release that can be altered depending on the specific API molecule profile and pharmacokinetic preferences.

The drug is emitted in a gaseos form which  enables absorption through the olfactory bulb and trigeminal nerve. Certain molecules will hence be able to cross the blood brain barrier and targeting the brain and central nerve system.

The technology

NOSA has developed the propriatary and patented technology for over 15 years and are now ready to commercialize the thechnology.

The technology is based on mixing of substances in plastic and the controlled release of the drug molecules. The technology is adapted to a wide variety of molecules and can also be adapted to adjust the doseage as well as the time of release.

Intellectual property

Cerevia has a wide patent portfolio consisting of both design and function. The patent family is open to additional molecule extensions.

The manufacturing technology that enabels the function of the delivery platform is non published “know-how”.
